The Sheerness Dockyard Church at Sheerness has secured funding from the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust as well as other charities including The National Lottery to transform the former Dockyard Church at Sheerness.

The Grade II listed church dates back to the 1820’s, where it was used by the families and workers of the then Royal Naval Dockyard.

The grant will guarantee the future of the Dockyard Church and transform it into a space to be enjoyed by the local community, including an enterprise centre which will be run with the Kent Youth Support Trust to help young people develop business ideas.

Additionally, there will be a permanent display of a model of the historic dockyard, a community café and an events space.

The centre is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2021.
