Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
The charity enables the hospital Trust to build and enhance their clinical facilities, deliver an art and design programme to enhance the wellbeing of the patients, and invest in health innovation to deliver exceptional patient care.
With just 6,000 staff caring for some one million people, the Trust provides a range of specialist clinical services, as well as general hospital services at both hospital sites. In addition, the Trust offers a variety of community-based services, including award winning sexual health and HIV clinics across London.
The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust have been enduring supporters of CW+. The Trust provided funding for a new MediCinema at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. MediCinemas are bespoke hospital cinemas and aim to improve life in hospitals for carers, inpatients, outpatients and their families through the joy of film. The cinema has been designed to accommodate 40 luxury cinema seats, six wheelchairs and five beds. This allows patients to enjoy time away from their ward with their loved ones, in the presence of two nurses.
In addition, the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust have recently announced the largest ever pledge made to the hospital, towards a new Intensive Care Unit. The new world-class unit will allow staff to care for 500 critically ill adults every year, and provide better facilities for patients, families and loved ones. The Julia and Hans Rausing provided £4 million for the creation of the new unit, which opens in 2020.
